The Landscape Design Process

The process will typically begin with an On Site Consultation.  During that meeting we will discuss your objectives for the project, and specific use or activity areas, such as Outdoor Living Spaces, Play Areas, Gardens, etc. We will discuss how to achieve the requirements of any neighborhood Design Guidelines. I’ll inquire about your plant material likes and dislikes, and talk about how the property will be maintained.  I’ll be looking at elements related to drainage, grading, exposures, etc.  This meeting usually lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.  There is a $80.00 fee for that consultation.

By the end of that meeting I can give you an idea of the hours it will take to execute the Landscape Master Plan.  Design fees are based on a rate of $80.00 per hour.  If at that time you want to proceed with a drawing we will complete a Design Service Agreement.  The consultation fee will be credited toward your design fee if you decide to go ahead with the drawing.

The hours to complete a Landscape Master Plan will vary for each individual project. Typically a drawing for a partial yard will run in the 6 to 12 hour range. A design for an entire property will range from 8- 12 or more depending on its complexity.

From the date of the On Site Consultation, until the Landscape Master Plan is completed will usually be about 2 to 3 weeks.
